Psychotherapy

If you are ready to start psychotherapy, or “talk therapy” as some call it, I’m ready too. We will begin with an information gathering session so that we can determine what your clinical needs are. I promise this will be a fun journey that we embark on! We will work together on a regular basis to make sure that you are succeeding in the ways that you want in your life. I am also trained in Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PED) which is the gold standard for PTSD, so if you have had difficulties with previous treatments such as EMDR, this treatment may be your next step.

Therapeutic Assessment (without Psychotherapy)

If you already have a therapist but are looking for answers that will help guide your treatment or you just want answers then this option is for you. The first session will be the information gathering portion so it will be helpful if you bring any documents from your therapist that will assist in this (make sure to sign your therapist’s required form for this). At the next session(s) we begin the assessment process which entails the administration of your specific tests; this may not be a complete psychological test battery as you and your therapist have probably already narrowed down what areas you want tested. Then I begin to score and interpret your results which will go into a formal report that we will go over in our final session. I will answer all questions that you have and make sure that you are more aware of yourself. I will provide a report for your therapist as well that will assist them in their work with you. A partial deposit is required on the first testing session if not utilizing insurance.

Psychological Assessment/Testing

Do you have other testing needs such as ADDs, personality, or IQ? This is the option for you then. Adults can continue to experience effects of disorders that they had in childhood in very different ways as we age. How you were taught to “control” your ADHD as a kid may not be the best way now that you have a job rather than being in school. The initial session is the information gathering portion that determines which psychological assessments are needed (this session usually only requires an hour). Every session after that is broken up into two-three-hour chunks. A partial deposit is required on the first testing session if not utilizing insurance.

Veterans’ Affairs Compensation and Pension Exams

These exams are scheduled through the VA or VA vendors only, such as Veterans’ Evaluation Services (VES). If you have been scheduled with me, you have, or should, receive a packet that provides information regarding this procedure. I will be granted access to all available VA medical records so there is no need to bring your complete file to your appointment. If there are new records that may not be in your VA file you are free to bring those, but please be aware that I cannot upload them for you. Per VA protocol, I am able to view any documents you bring but will return them to you prior to the end of your exam. If you are currently taking psychiatric medications, please bring a current list or even take pictures with your phone (makes it easier than bringing all your meds in a bag).
